Micronutrient Forum
Case Study 4
THE CHALLENGE
The Micronutrient Forum convenes the world's leading researchers, policymakers, and practitioners around one of global health's most underfunded priorities — micronutrient deficiency. The challenge wasn't the quality of the science. It was making that science visible, accessible, and urgent enough to grow a global audience, animate an international conference, and build momentum around multi-stakeholder coalitions working to put micronutrients firmly on the global agenda.
THE WORK
Hired as a communications consultant for over a year and a half, I operated across every level of the communications stack — from strategic planning through day-of execution — across the Forum's conference, campaigns, and coalition work.
THE OUTCOME
A growing international audience engaged with the Forum's conference and campaigns, supported by a full communications infrastructure built to scale. Three simultaneous advocacy campaigns advanced with cohesive creative assets and consistent messaging. The Standing Together for Nutrition coalition launched with the communications foundation needed to sustain a complex multi-partner movement over time.
KEY METRICS
Global conference attendance: 2
Webinars produced and managed: 6
Videos scripted and produced: 25
-
Built and managed the complete communications plan for the global conference, including full webinar production: run-of-show development, speaker recruitment and coordination, speaker notes, slide deck development, and day-of execution. Every moment the Forum's scientists and advocates took the stage, the logistics, materials, and messaging were in place to let the content lead.
-
Wrote scripts for and produced videos that translated complex nutritional science into clear, compelling narratives for both general and policy audiences — making the invisible visible and the technical accessible.
-
Developed concise one-page policy briefs distilling complex research into formats decision-makers could actually use — actionable, evidence-based, and audience-calibrated for the specific stakeholders each brief was designed to reach.
-
Supported three significant campaigns running simultaneously:
Mighty Micronutrients — building public and policy awareness of micronutrient deficiency as a preventable global health crisis
#PoweringWomen — an advocacy push focused on women's specific nutritional needs, rights, and the systemic barriers to addressing them
Standing Together for Nutrition Coalition — supported the coalition's launch and early operational communications, helping a multi-institutional partnership establish a single, credible voice from day one
For Food Systems for Kids — Nourishing the Future, produced a video and developed slide decks for key program moments. For the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies film series, supported production and communications designed to humanize the data behind maternal and infant nutrition outcomes.
